Back to the drawing board....4C again!

So I had every intention of starting task 4D today but felt it impossible to no where to begin and got myself into a HUGE panic about everything. After no responses to my questions, I wasn't sure what literature to read, I'm still not 100%...... but after a massive freak out I got the tiny bit of reassurance I needed to keep going...Finally a response to my questions!!

One of the questions I asked, referred to skills required as an actor and my friend replied 'Being able to enjoy working through the process rather than focused on the results'
This (it hit me) was totally what I was doing wrong!!!  Being a massive control freak I'm not able to let go of the whole not really knowing what happens next part of the process. Its funny because in my work I really enjoy creating character etc but I feel completely out of my depth with this kind of academic, open ended questioning and I guess that partnered with the whole distance learning thing is hard. Theirs not a director on set with you constantly to give you guidance, its 90% independent work. On further reflection I also feel I hadn't given the first task, of coming up with the questions the time it needed. Starting back after such a long time off was always going to be difficult, but maybe the ups and mainly downs of today will get me back on track.
After a read of Alan's blog and I felt like I was slowly coming out of the dark. This research project has got to be something that really motivates me so it needs to be something I want to know the answer to!
So with that on board I have reworked my questions, pulled some books off the shelf and intend to move on to task 5 with a quote from Adesola's blog in mind 'Your question is stewing on the back burner and you are feeding the fire under it by starting to read literature about the area you are interested in.'
Who knows what will happen in the process.......

Questions:

What do actors say about the qualities of good acting?

What do directors say about the qualities of good acting?

Do actors find emotional recall an effective way of reaching moments of extreme emotion?

Do you think contemporary British theatre is a good reflection of the world we live in currently?

In what ways are creative subjects promoted within the baccalaureate scheme?

4C

I'm struggling to develop my questions as no one has commented on them :(

I have emailed them out to fellow actors, but a link on my twitter and put them on my blog.

Any feedback from fellow BAPP people would be great or I might have to start hanging around outside theatre's!!!!

SIG

Hi guys,

I understand from reading your blogs that most of you are dancers but if there are any other actors on the course who would like to set up a group let me no.

Also please have a look at my questions, I would really love to get some feedback.

Module 2 - Task 4a

I found reader 4 raised lots of important questions that with hopefully lead me on to discovering an interesting and challenging line of inquiry.
At the moment though all I have is mish mash of questions on a note pad without any real specific outcome in mind.
The section on identifying skills and knowledge in the workplace inspired me to come up with my own 'inter-disciplinary'  spider-diagram.

In today's ever changing society people can be who they want to be, they have choice.
With so many opportunities available it's rare for people to stay in the same line of work for there entire lives.
It's important to have transferable skills and it's interesting to think about different jobs that require similar skills. An actor and a lawyer for example will have very varied training methods, but both jobs require research, charisma, the ability to perform, confidence, public speaking skills, commitment....

My acting training has been a great foundation for my teaching career but there is so much more to teaching than teaching! I no in the future I will need to learn about assessments, data, schemes of work. I hope to do my teacher training through the schools direct program rather than the PGCE. I feel I'd benefit from more WBL course. I think that relates back to the type of learner and person I am.

So on with my questions, as I mentioned there a bit of a random mix at the moment. This probably reflects the crossroad  I'm at with acting and teaching so hopefully the process will help me out personally too!

I look forward to your response.
